What is the name of your tool/platform/hardware you are presenting?

Lamina1

What is the URL of the tool/platform/hardware you are presenting?

Describe the primary function and technical capabilities of the tool. How does it contribute to building the Metaverse?

Lamina1 is a Layer 1 blockchain that aims to be one of the building blocks of the open metaverse.  They are a platform where users can create, buy, and sell, items, play games, and connect with other users in the metaverse.     It is still in beta with capabilities to create art and lasers.  The platform is very creator-focused so the trading of custom items will be a large part of activity on the platform.  They will also have an open world to explore with other users called Nyric.  This will attract users to the platform where in web3 it seems holding digital real estate (a lot of it) is very good for business.

What are the technical requirements to use this tool (e.g., hardware specifications, operating system compatibility)?

You have to have a pretty good computer.  DirectX 12 Graphics, 8+GB RAM minimum. For now, the open world is Windows 10+ only.

Provide examples or case studies of how this tool has been applied in real-world scenarios. How does it solve specific problems or enhance projects in VR, AR, or the metaverse?

As of now, it doesn't really have specific instances where these have shown yet.  The most important feat of the platform is how much money it has raised but I believe in the future it will be part of many NFT, art, and video game projects on PC.  There is no telling where the open world part of it could go as well.

Is the tool open-source or proprietary? Discuss the implications of its software model on development and collaboration.

Open source.  The platform allows nearly anybody to help fundraise, as well as create content, and use their open world.  This allows so much possibility for user creations, and humans will  naturally create interactions between each other on these different "spaces"/platforms.

What is the business model of this tool and what are the implications? (ie freemium, subscription, one-time cost). Who do you think their target market or demographic is?

Right now it seems like it will be free but the users who create the worlds will decide through their creation, how money is spent in their space.  This will determine the price or benefit from being in certain parts of this metaverse.  I think their target market is digital artists, creators, architects, game designers.  They will be the main ones creating things on here, as well as trading and buying items likely to collect or flip.

Compare and contrast this tool with at least two similar tools or platforms. What are its strengths and weaknesses relative to its competitors?

Ethereum is a blockchain primarily used for buying and selling their coin ETH.     Chainlink is a platform built on top of the Ethereum blockchain and mainly serves a purpose of transferring information between items in a blockchain in a safe way.     Neither of these are open world focused, and implement the level of creativity that Lamina1 does.  I think Lamina has much more of an open world focus.  It benefits in the way that it doesn't really serve a specific purpose.  It moreso is a foundation for people to give it a purpose.  I think this takes the possibilities of the platform much further although Ethereum has a pretty good head start financially.

Based on current trends and developments, where do you see this tool heading in the future? Consider upcoming features, potential use cases, or evolving technologies.

I think this tool could become very popular.  It could be a very popular open world, or it could be a really popular platform for designers and digital artists.  Maybe entrepreneurs turn to it to get things made for their business, or even start to implement the platform in their business to create communication between certain groups of people. The possibilities are endless as long as it stays afloat and continues to find new users.

What was your experience in using the tool?

It is in beta, so it isn't a streamlined experience.  There are many parts.   The website is very descriptive once you know what you're looking at.  It doesn't really make sense at first but has almost any information about the company one may want to know.     The creator's suite is very cool.  It gives you ways to actually use the platform, but you have to go through discord to get connected with the L1 coin system, which didn't work for me so I could not create anything on the platform.  I did play the laser game, which functioned well.  Overall if you don't have any understanding of web3, you will learn in the process of just trying to gain access to this platform.  I did and thought it can become sated bymething very cool.
